Mpinganjira impressed with progress of Zomba-Phalombe-Chitakale Road
The Board chairperson of the Roads Authority, Brown Mpinganjira says he is impressed with progress on Zomba-Phalombe-Chitakale Road.

Speaking during a tour of the project on Friday afternoon, the chairperson said the road is almost completed as the main remaining works would be completed in a matter of days.
“We are happy that we came because a lot of progress has been made. We think that we are there; it’s almost ninety something per cent completed.
“The main works that remain are the roundabout at Chitakale and the contractor has assured us that the roundabout should be completed within the next four days,” he said.
Mpinganjira, however, acknowledged that the road has already developed patches in some places saying those places will be revisited.
“We are now setting high standards in the road authority. Lucky for us the contractor understands that some of the places have to be revisited and for that reason, we are quite happy that we have made a lot of progress but we are insisting on quality,” he said.
Mpinganjira also explained on the progress of the Chiringa-Muloza Road which was expected to start in April this year (2019) but is yet to take shape.
“The Muloza-Chiringa Road is a vital road. It was necessary for us to have this road, partly because it is an agricultural area and so giving them this road is actually assisting them to assist the whole nation.
“We are happy to construct this road, the contractor is on sight and I am told that final design documentation is yet to come from the Roads Authority and once that is done, the contractor will start the work,” he said.
The Zomba-Phalombe-Chitakale Road is expected to be completed by August this year (2019) while Chiringa-Muloza Road is expected to be in shape by October, 2020.
The construction of the two roads is part of the government’s commitment to achieving the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDS) III and the Transport Master Plan 2018.

Ma project amiseu inayi ndi akabisila. Yofuna ma vote prio to the just ended elections. No public tendering is done in most cases. One current example is the Nsanje Marka road . Anthu anangoona bull dozers, graders and the like zitatulukira pa nsanje boma and the roads authority board chair came to officially witness the start of the project pegged, at eleven billion Malawi kwacha. This road project was not on the list of development project announced in the 2018 / 2019 financial year budget. A lands ndi a roads authority on the ground anati, sakudziwapo kanthu za nseu. Izi zinaululika pamene ena anthu amene malo awo akukhudzidwa ndi kumangidwa kwa nseu anakadandaula kwa DC wa ku Nsanje.. No consultations with owners of properties that are going to be affected by the project were done yet, the project is starting. Talk of good governance in a democratic dispensation. No regard for the locals whose properties are going to be affected.
These Chinese made roads too much alibaba.
At Mwene, don’t praise things coz you come from there. This is the type of mediocre thinking we are rejecting for our country to move on.I have driven in this road so many times but it is very sad to note that the road is NOT smooth at all.It has so many drifts and bumps which often collect water during rainy season. The thickness of the road sorry to say is ‘Fake’ and iam just wondering why BJ (A Lomwe himself and a self acclaimed evangelist)would be excited with such a bad road given to fellow Malawians and to his people when he actually knows the standards are uncceptable given the huge amount of money all tax payers from all regions contributed to the project .Are we not feeling sad that the Karonga-Chitipa road developed numerous potholes to the extent that 1 billion Malawi kwacha was re-allocated for repairing?Come to think of ‘ 1 billion kwacha just like that?’
Then we have the Midima road which is in great tatters! Are you not ashamed that all our newly built are wearing out fast despite heavy investments in billions? Are you not feeling sad at the rate of road accidents occurring attributed to a larger extent to poor and very narrow roads? Is this not the right time to construct dual carriage from Blantyre all the way to Mzuzu in stages till we reach there?
BJ are you not feeling bad in your heart as a Pastor at the alarming rate of substandard workman ship in the roads being constructed now?Can you compare with the road to your home buit some years ago by ‘ASTAD?’ It has no holes whatsoever all the way to Mloza Border?
Please you guys love our country for once.Help us get out of this man made cage of mediocrity. BJ wayenda iweyo and your party gurus.LOVE OUR COUNTRY. FORGET ABOUT YOUR STOMACH FOR ONCE.You fought hard war against 3rd Term and I will forever be indebted to you sir.You seem to have lost that heart oflate maybe coz you are ageing? You want to apply the ‘Paphya tonola sudziwa mtima Wa moto’ adage?
Tilondeni abale anthu a kuvutika kwambiri ndi umphawi waonjeza
Can’t wait to drive my nice car on this picturesque road. Truth is DPP = Infrastructure development.
Miseu kumangolimbikira kwa Alhomweku basi zasankho, koma M1 ikakumbika ndiye mpaka chaka osakonza ngozi galimoto either kugundana or kuphonya mseu coz amazemba potihole.
