Former Surestream Technical Director Peter Mponda is confident that his team now named Wizards FC will do well in the TNM Super League after cutting ties with Surestream Academy sponsorship.
Mponda sounding confident said Wizzard FC would survive in Malawi’s top league despite the high financial demands required to fulfill assignments and allowances.
“The fact that Surestream was sponsoring the team should not intimidate us at all because sometimes money doesn’t buy success,” Mponda said.
“We had a good sponsorship but what is the point of having sponsorship when we were not happy.”
He also disclosed that there were potential sponsors with discussions at an advanced level.
“We are going to secure sponsorship but I cannot disclose their names or particulars to avoid jeopardising the deal. We will announce the names of our sponsors to the public at an appropriate time possibly within the week,” he said.
In a related development Mponda has also said the team would not drop Under-17 players who were registered to play in the Super League.
“All the players who registered to play in the Super League will not be released to Academy as it was reported. I don’t know where people got that information from because that’s not the arrangement,” he said.
Mponda parted ways with Surestream amid controversy having reportedly that he wrote a letter of resignation which was rejected.
The former Bullets and Flames captain was also accused of registering Surestream FC in his name while serving as Technical Director.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
