Mponda, Wadabwa marry their sweethearts: For better, for worse…

Malawi national football team (Flames)  stars Peter ‘Mjojo’ Mponda and Peter Wadabwa wedded their long time fiancées Tina Kandulu and Chrissy Sitima respectively in colourful ceremonies in the commercial city Blantyre which Nyasa Times covered.

Mponda wedded Kandulu at Chilobwe Catholic Parish with their beautiful reception at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel while Wadabwa wedded Sitima at Limbe Cathedral.

The Flames captain wedding was blessed by Reverend Father Benito Masuwa.

In his preaching, Masuwa advised the couple to lead by example to tolerate each other whenever they have differed in their family.

“Peter you have set a good example to your fellow players who have not married yet. I also urge you to use contact and dialogue when you differ. In each and every family there are problems but do not let Satan to rule you,” said Masuwa.

The South African based Santos FC skipper started dating Kandulu in 2002 and they have two children.

During Mponda’s wedding ceremony there were a number of notable sports men  like Flames coach Kinnah Phiri, Football Association of Malawi General Secretary Sugzo Nyirenda, Civo United defender Emmanuel Zoya, former Celtic winger Fisher Kondowe, Escom United workhorse James Chilapondwa and Robert Ng’ambi.

At Wadabwa’s reception which took place at Limbe Cathedral hall there were also a number of footballers like Mighty Wanderers skilful midfielder Joseph Kmwendo, Celtic no nonsense defender Limbikani Mzava, Angolan based James Sangala, South African based Sankhani Nyirenda, Flames mentor Kinnah Phiri and Flames team manager Stewart Mbolembole.

Malawi coach commended Wadabwa for tying the note with his long time sweetheart describing it as a good example to other players.

“As the coach for the Flames l am so happy because Wadabwa has set a good example to young and upcoming players. He is such a well disciplined player and lam happy for him and his family,” said Kinnah, who broguht K50,000 as a gift from Football Association of Malawi.

In a related development, former Mighty Wanderers left winger Emmanuel Chipatala had an engagement ceremony with his fiancée Shamim Mwenda.
