MRA boss Biswick fired: Kamoto, Mbilizi hired
President Peter Mutharika has sacked Commissioner General of Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) John Biswick and his deputy Crispin Kulemeka who have been replaced by Ralph Kamoto and Rose Mbilizi – both from Chiradzulu, Nyasa Times understands.
Biswick who had replaced now High Court Judge, Lloyd Muhara, circulated an email to senior staff on Wednesday and management calling for a meeting to bid farewell.
To take over the MRA top job will be Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (Mera) chief executive officer Ralph Kamoto who once served as deputy head of the customs body.
Kamoto is chartered accountant who has served in various high-profile posts in the public sector, including general manager for the defunct Petroleum Control Commission (PCC) and diplomatic service.
The position of MRA deputy commissioner general Crispin Kulemeka wis set to be taken by former MRA director of policy planning Roza Mbilizi.
The tax collector is also facing probe on evasions by many businesspersons mostly Malawians of Asian decent.
