MRA impounds three vehicles from Ngalande: DPP youth director says political witchunt for his support to Chilima

Public-tax  collectors, the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) have impounded three vehicles from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) director of the youth Lewis Ngalande for non payment of import duty but Ngalande has described it political.

Ngalande: It is politically motivated because I want Chilima to be the next president not Mutharika
APM Number plates on the roads of Malawi

The MRA team accompanied by heavily armed police stormed Ngalande’s residence in Chigumula and towed away a mercedenz benz, a five tonner truck and a Toyota fortuner.

But Ngalande described the whole move as political meant to silence him following his decision to abandon President Peter Mutharika and champion the candidacy of vice-president Saulos Chilima.

“I bought these vehicles long time ago, I even used them during the Mutharika campaign in 2014, so why now? The DPP is just using the MRA to victimise us,” he said.

Ngalande said there many DPP officials driving uncleared vehicles yet they are not targetted.

But MRA officials said the impounding of the vehicles was not political.

Ngalande insisted that some have chosen to drive vehicles without registred number plates or number plates bearing the name of President Peter Mutharika.

Directorate of Road Traffic and Safety Services (DRTSS)  said  such acts are against the Road Traffic Act but there has been inaction.

Malawi flagship dnewspaper, the Daily Times voiced concern on the development recently in its editorial comment, saying vehicle number plates are a must all over the world and they need to be properly registered and not be personalised for political gains as in the case of DPP operatives who drive around in cars with number plates such as ‘Adadi 1’, ‘APM 2019’ or ‘APM BOMA’.

“One thing we are very sure of is that such vehicles do not belong to Mutharika. They belong to personalities who wish to take advantage of the President to break the law.

“It is obvious that such vehicles cannot be stopped by our traffic police for routine checks for obvious reasons. In the case of vehicles without number plates, they cannot be identified in the case of a crime or a road accident,” the paper observed.

Malawi should not entertain lawlessness, the paper pointed out, adding “impunity is a disease that is killing us. It must not be allowed to continue living in our midst.”

Whoever is making deals with DPP/Peter in order to win the elections, know that you are signing a deal with the devil. At some point you’ll end up in jail trust me……sooner than you think.

Ngalande should apologize to all Malawians for using three vehicles without paying duties which is corruption of the highest order and Chilima should not associate himself with such people unless he is one of them.In fact Chilima should condemn such an act in public as the culprit is a member of his movement

Ulenje umasimba wako Mr Ngalande. Now that you have been caught red handed please don’t resort to exposing others within DPP for their wrongdoing. In fact Malawians know already that most, if not all DPP leadership, is rotten and corrupt to the core. They all belong to jail. The only reason they are not locked up is because DPP members have signed a mafia-type code of conduct that bars its members from exposing others once caught out.

Recently one of these “APM 2019” was involved in accident. The police officers were clearly scared of this person. No one knew the car registration number.
So party zeelots are above the law in malawi. Thats how it is.

These are the guys that will ruin SKC. I hope he can use them and later dump them after he wins. Political savages who feel they are entitled to loot, plunder & steal with impunity.

MRA and ACB have become government tools for oppression who are only vigilant when someone does not tow the party line. You see, when Uladi Musa was in PP making noise ACB pounced on him and DPP made a lot of noise, not he is DPP nobody talks about his corruption in DPP.
