MRA’s Mbilizi in illegal allowances, Police move in
Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) head of planning research, Mrs. Roza Mbilizi, was summoned to Fiscal department of Police on Wednesday to be quizzed on pocketing illegal allowances.
Police kept a tight lid on the matter, saying they are still investigating.
Meanwhile, documentation which Nyasa Times has in possession – MBILIZI DOC– shows that Mbilizi collected US$1,950.00 allowances which she was supposed to use on her trip to London, UK.
Mbilizi was expected to attend management conference meeting of the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators from the 10th to 15th April in 2011.
Nyasa Times understands that Mbilizi did not travel to the conference but pocketed the money.
Mbilizi also failed to pay back about 18,000 South African Rands.
The documentation shows that Mbilizi had collected money for a medical treatment at a headache clinic in South Africa. On 27 March in 2011.
In the allowance package, Mbilizi was given 20,000 Rands for food at 500 Rands for four days. She ought to have refunded 18,000 Rands.
Nyasa Times could not get hold of Mbilizi as her phone went unanswered. Our text messages containing our queries were also not responded to.
