Msungama resigns fate to court for favourable verdict

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) losing parliamentary candidate for Lilongwe South east Ulemu Msungama has resigned his fate of winning the High Court case over the parliamentary seat to the independence of the judiciary.

Msungama: Fate in the hands of court

This follows the police Inspector General Lexten Kachama’s declaration that the fire that gutted the Malawi Electoral Commission warehouse in Lilongwe that kept ballot papers and other materials for the 2014 elections was due to an accident.

The opposition and civil rights groups believe the fire was deliberately set to destroy evidence following Msungama’s challenge of the poll result that propelled Bentry Namasasu (Democratic Progressive Party) into parliament.

Msungama said he has not yet given up hope, saying courts in Malawi are independent and competent. He said the DPP led government cannot conceal evidence for ever.

He said he is optimistic the case would go his way and he would be sworn in to take up his parliamentary seat in the 193 strong House.

Some people said they spotted a National Intelligence Bureau vehicle at the warehouse just hours before the arson.

Others also wondered why it has taken over a year for the police to come up with the result of their investigations.

Msungamas vote were crucial for recounting coz if it were proven that it was true that they were rigged it could hv caused the whole elections to be recounted. DPP votes were even much less than wat they declared. God knows the truth that’s why alot of calamities are happening in this country. God chosen government will hv blessing.lol

Waste of time and resources man. Just prepare for 2019. You can’t expect to win such a case against a mafia DPP govt unless if you are ready to die young. For the sake of your safety and resources leave this issue once and for good and get ready for a smooth challenge in 2019
