Mtawali: Malawi are ready for must-win game against Lesotho

Coach Ernest Mtawali insists Malawi national football team are fully prepared for their must-win clash against Lesotho in  Group B affair of the Cosafa Castle Cup in Windhoek, Namibia on Thursday to qualify for the quarter-finals

Mtawali said he charges can handle the pressure of big-game situations.

“There is always pressure to perform. We know it’s a must-win game but it’s been like that since we got here,” Mtawali said to Nyasa Times.

Malawi tie at six points with Group B leaders Lesotho who made it two wins out of two matches with a  2-0 victory over youthful Angola. However, Lesotho have a one-goal aggregate advantage over the Flames.

“All we want is a win,” said Mtawali.

Mtawali is likely to maintain his first 11 with Charles Swini in goals, Harry Nyirenda, Francis Mlimbika, Miracle Gabeya and Stanley Sanudi in defence while Rafiq Namwela and Joseph Kamwendo will be deployed in central midfield with Isaac Kaliyati and Gerald Phiri Jnr orchestrating play in the wings. Upfront Gabadinho and captain Chiukepo Msowoya will lead the attack.

  1. Hehehe!! Because of wins against under 20 teams, Ernest thinks the team is good enough. Of course every game is “must win” with no exception! All the best to the team
