MTL Queens, Tigresses clash in OG Issa

Netball giants MTL Queens will on Saturday clash with stubborn Tigresses in a grudge encounter in the OG Issa Southern Region League  campaign scheduled for Blantyre Youth Centre in the commercial city of Malawi.

The battle between the two Blantyre based out-fits has already been preceded by fierce rivalry as both camps claim to be better that the other.

Saturdays match will be interesting one because both sides have  blended young and vastly experienced squads with MTL Queens  boasting of the likes of  centre of the moment Pilirani Msukwa, Joana Kachilika, Riana Mtenje and slippery Thandiwe Galeta while Tigresses has Sindi ‘Sniper’ Simutowe,  Beatrice Mpinganjira, Lauren Ngwira and Grace Mwafulirwa.

Tigresses’ coach Charles Mhango said their team would like to continue from where they stopped in the Rainbow Paints Top Six Series when they clobbered MTL Queens.

“We want to show our superiority over them. Our preparations are going on well so far and we do not have any injuries. The players are eager to secure three points after our disappointing results in the Presidential Cup in Lilongwe,” said Mhango.

Tigresses lost to Diamonds in the 2013 Presidential Cup which took place in Lilongwe.

MTL Queens captain Joana Kachilika has vowed to silence the Kanjedza ladies by promising their fans a better result.

“We have a mission to accomplish and l can assure all MTL Queens supporters to come in their large numbers because come Saturday we will silence Tigresses. Every player is determined to upset the tables.”

Southern Region Netball League Committee general secretary Annie Hanjahanja has urged all netball lovers in Blantyre to converge BYC in their large numbers to witness a crunch encounter

“People should expect to witness one of the crunch encounters involving the two Blantyre giants. Both teams have improved off late and spectators will not be disappointed,” she said.
