Mulanje records 4 suicide, 3 murder cases
Police in the southern mountainous tea growing district of Mulanje have, from January to February 20th this year, recorded highest rate of suicide and murder incidents.
Mulanje police Public Relations Officer, James Kadadzela told Nyasa Times in an interview, the law enforcers recorded seven cases of murder and suicide that involved six men and one woman.
“The main cause of these incidents seems to be family problems. We are advising members of the public to report family problems to victim Support Unit other than taking their own lives and those of loved ones,” said Kadadzela.
The police publicist said there was a need for men to spell out misconception that the law favours women.
“Police Victim Support Unit officers are professionals in mediation and counselling therefore couples should not hesitate to seek help and they will be effectively assisted,” he added.
