Malawi national team coach Roony van Geneudged (RVG) will be the first person in Malawi to use MultiChoice Malawi’s new digital satellite television Explora decoder cal
This was courtesy of country’s digital satellite television service provider which donated the new product on the market last week.
A press statement from MultiChoice Malawi quotes its Sales and Marketing Manager Chimwemwe Nyirenda as saying the NANO Explora would act like an auxiliary tool to assist the coach in his job.
He said through the NANO Explora the coach would be able to watch and assess foreign based players plying their trade in the ABSA PSL in South Africa.
Nyirenda said, most importantly, the coach would be able to record matches involving the Flames as well as opponents in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers and use the footage for pep talk with the players.
The statement further quotes Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Commercial and Marketing Director Limbani Matola as saying the football governing body was very grateful to MultiChoice Malawi for accepting this strategic partnership.
“This is strong statement that the private sector in Malawi is keen to contribute towards football development in this country. It underlines the fact that the responsibility of the national team is a collective one and not just for the government.
“We look forward to more of these strategic partnerships. And within few days from today we should be announcing similar type of such. FAM remains vigilant and steady fast to secure as many partners as possible towards the overall football development in this country, “ Matola said
For the good gesture, Fam has given a greenlight to MultiChoice Malawi to display their adverts during matches involving the Flames.
In his remarks, RVG said the decoder will save a lot of time which he can use to groom players.
“Instead of wasting time travelling abroad to assess the players, I will simply sit home, record and watch the players. I have a lot of work to do to identify good players and teach them tactics that can win us matches,” he said.
Currently, RVG is assessing local players through the TNM Super League and the Airtel Top 8 Cup to widen the catchment area for the national side.
He is also expected to patronise training sessions for some of the local clubs based to see how local coaches are grooming the players at club level.
The coach has also bemoaned the substandard nature of football pitches in the country, saying they are not conducive for neat passing football. He called for immediate improvement of the pitches.
