Police in Lilongwe have arrested five people on allegations that they murdered a 26 year old woman Faith Chembezi of Nyozo Village in Traditional Authority Kabudula in Lilongwe who was working as a nurse at Nkhoma Mission Hospital in the district.
Lilongwe Police Publicist Kingsley Dandaula said the deceased met her fate on August 31 this year on her way to one of the suspect’s home Dokiso Soko who asked her to assist him with beddings which could be used for his visitors.
Dandaula said Chembezi met the criminals at around 7 O’clock in the evening a few meters away from Soko’s house.
He said police arrested Thomas Banda 19 of Madesa Village Traditional Authority (T/A) Mazengera in Lilongwe soon after the incident had happened who upon interrogations revealed his friend David Chinkhosa of Chande Village in the same area.
The other suspects were identified as Settie Kaunda 24 of Chauluma Village T/A Kampingo-Sibande of Mzimba who was working as Clerk for Kulima Gold at Nkhoma, Shadreck Mabvuto 21 of Madesa village T/A Mazengera a student of Nkhoma Community Day Secondary School (CDSS).
“Upon interrogation the first suspect (Banda) told police that they were hired by the firth suspect (Soko) to kill the deceased,” he said.
Meanwhile, the suspects have been charged with the offence of murder contrary to section 209, according to Dandaula.
It is reported that the deceased (Chembezi) who was in a love affair with Soko of Nthonda village T/A Mpherembe in Mzimba was working as an Administrator at the hospital.
“Police were investigating the issue until Wednesday when they managed to arrest the other three people who were at large by the time Banda and Chinkhosa wew arrested,” said Dandaula.
