The deceased, identified as Dalitso Nakehi, also had one of his ears chopped off by his unknown assailants.

Limbe Police Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO), Pedzisai Zembeneko, said the deceased is believed to have been killed Thursday night as he travelled back home.

His body was dumped in Chigodi River near a place popularly known as Pa Bridge or Paramount along the Limbe-Machinjiri Road.

“We collected the dead body at around 10:00hours after we were informed by members of the community that a man was lying dead in Chigodi River. We took it to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for post mortem and we are now just waiting for a report on the cause of his death. I can also confirm that we discovered that one of his ears had been cut,” said Zembeneko.murder_mystery-puzzle

Late Nakehi is believed to have been attacked by thugs after 21:00hrs because, according to his girlfriend Jenifer Chalosi, there were together at Paramount Motel (a few meters away from the scene) up to around same time when they parted ways.

The shocked girlfriend said she did not know what happened to him after they parted ways.

The deceased was working as a hawker attendant at Kanjedza Township and hailed from Mangasau Village, T/A Mulolo in Thyolo district.

The Limbe Police PRO also said, in another incident, Sailosi Mbiza was hacked to death in Bangwe for allegedly stealing sugarcanes.

And police have since arrested Patrick Mugwede whom they suspect of being connected to the murder.

Mugwede told the police Mbiza was allegedly stealing sugarcane in his garden.

“The deceased body was discovered about 110 meters away from the suspect’s garden.

According to Zembeneko, Mugwede was in the company of Mbiza’s assailants, who are still at large.

The deceased, who had a deep cut on the head, hailed from Misuli Village, T/A Chikumbu in Mulanje district while Mugwede comes from Mizalome Village, T/A Machinjiri in Blantyre.
