Muslim Council appoints new grand mufti for Malawi

Muslim’s Majlis Ulama Council of Malawi has appointed Sheikh Muhammad Uthuman Ntalika as the new grand mufti of Malawi.
The appointment follows the death of the late Mufti Abbass Qassim who died in 2018.
Sheikh Ntalika said he believes he has been given the toughest position in the Muslim community.
But he has assured people that he will work to the best of his knowledge in serving people.
“This is a very big responsibility for me and I thank my fellow sheikhs for trusting me with such a position. My job will be to unite all the Sheikhs in Malawi,” said Mufti Uthuman.
The Publicity Secretary for the Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) Sheikh Dinala Chabulika, said he is happy that the organisation has appointed a new  grand mufti and elected a new executive member for the Ulama Council.
During the elective conference, the Majlis Ulama also appointed Sheikh Mussa Matola as its new chairperson.
Other Sheikhs that have been appointed to the Majlis Ulama Council Of Malawi  Committee include,  Sheikh Swaleh Chilundu as the Vice Chairperson, Sheikh Abbas Muslim Vinienje, Sheikh Dr Salmin Omar, Sheikh  Ismail Alan and Sheikh Abdulrahman Masi.
The Chairperson For the Muslim Association of Malawi Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad also graced the occasion.
