Mutharika appoints another DPP cadre in top position

President Peter Mutharika has appointed yet another Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cadre into the government top position.

Memory Majombe

The Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has announced the appointment of Memory Majombe as deputy director of Public Events office.

The appointment comes at a time when there is a heated debate in social media platforms about the need for the government to open up positions in government for all Malawians through recruiting processes which include job interviews.

Some section of the society says there is dwindling public service delivery because wrong people are hired for jobs which they are not familiar with.

This is the third appointment of DPP cadres in top government positions within a month after the appointment of Hellen Buluma as deputy chief executive officer for the National Oil Company of Malawi (Nocma) and Gerald Viola as deputy chief executive officer for the National Reserve Agency (NFRA).

The DPP is becoming a total embarrassment to the nation of Malawi. Some of these things of poor governance ought not to continue and happen now at a time when tension is building in the country. The party is losing its glory and popularity everyday because of a few greedy characters giving misleading council to the President. A Dad see the people around you and change them because they only want to have their relatives to be in top jobs but this is Malawi. The nepotism going on in Malawi is too much and compromises the principles and policies of… Read more »

Every problem has an expiry period. Remember, Dr B Muluzi and his UDF never dreamed of the situation encountered sending them into an unimaginable tattered end.

The issue isn’t about “kumva Kuwawa”. Let’s think about Malawi as a whole. Let’s learn from South Sudan which ceded from Sudan because they South Sudanese) were being marginalised. I can foretell without fear or favouratism, in future Malawi will be embroiled in civil wars if the current situation continues. The 3 regions will be stand alone countries.
