Mutharika encourages Nsanje Lalanje people to vote DPP candidate to get development

President Arthur Peter Mutharika has encouraged people in Nsanje Lalanje Constituency to vote for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Gladys Ganda for the area to continue enjoying development initiatives championed by government.

Mutharika: Vote for DPP

Mutharika was speaking on Saturday at Bangula Football Ground in Nsanje – Lalanje when he conducted a political rally to drum up support for the DPP candidate ahead of by-elections scheduled for Tuesday October 17.

He said time has come for the electorates to vote for a DPP candidate in order to sustain development projects his government initiated.

“The by – elections are not meant to change the government. They will just be conducted to fill a vacant seat. Therefore, we are in government and development comes from the government. Let me assure you that if you vote for Gladys Ganda, development project will continue flourishing here,” Mutharika said

He reiterated that the Malawi Congress Party ruled for a long time but never considered the issue of Nsanje – Blantyre Road which the DPP has put tarmac within the few years it has been in power.

Mutharika further said government will continue developing the Lower Shire by rehabilitating the Nsanje – Limbe railway line, constructing the Thyolo – Makwasa – Bangula and Thabwa – Fatima road to facilitate easy transportation of both people and crop produce.

On the Nsanje Inland Port, the President said government is geared to continue the project.

“Let me assure you that the issue is being treated as a priority and we are still discussing with the Mozambique government and possibly things will work for the better,” he said adding that government is also discussing with the Japanese Government to assist in the construction of Mtayamoyo Bridge.

On youth empowerment, President Mutharika said government has a passion for the youth demonstrated by construction of community technical colleges for youth empowerment in self-reliance.

He said government plans to have 28 colleges completed across the country by December 2018 before taking construction works to constituency.

“I am sure that with this, more youths will have something to rely on. For Nsanje, we have resources to construct a technical college at Tengani,” Mutharika said.

  1. constituency.

why you didn’t construct at the first time? it doesn’t make sense at all just because we are going to voter soon

  2. People commenting on this post are giving a picture that winning Nsanje- Lalanje is an indication that MCP can win the 2019 presidential elections. This is a myopic thinking. When Gwanda a true giant of the Lower Shire was leading MCP all seats in the area were won by MCP. But did Gwanda win the presidency of Malawi? Despite being supported by Chihana who by then the whole north was in his hands, Chakwamba and the MCP still failed to grab the presidency. Now Sidik Mia is not the president of MCP, there is no one in the north who can convince the region as Chihana did. How then can MCP have hope to win the presidency in 2019? The ecstacy should just stop on a parliamentary level. Forget about the presidency in 2019 because numbers are not adding up for a win. No one can refute that DPP strongholds are not shaken at any level. DPP has invaded the center as well as the north. It has MPs in all the regions. With the fall of PP the majority of supporters esp from the south are going back to either UDF or DPP. So the numbers are being added daily. Do you expect that party to lose a presidential seat? Therefore MCP cannot win the predintial seat because of Mia only. There was Gwanda and Chihana who were real giants but did not make it. MCP is dreaming in black. If the people choose an opposition MP, that’s their choice. It means they have chosen no development for the remaining one and half years. Who will lose?

  3. This man can’t inspire anybody, probably he is not gifted. He doesn’t know how to talk and articulate words much as he doesn’t use his brain to uplift Malawian lives that are at the mercy of poverty and lack of progress.

Mutharika has the audacity to talk about bringing development to Nsanje Lalanje only if a DPP candidate wins the by-election as if he is not talking to the owners of the taxes he is using. He is fooling his bosses who don’t know that they are his employers. How would you give achievement conditions to your own employers? The fact is Peter Mutharika thinks people are illiterate and will buy his propaganda. Where was development when the then DPP MP was in charge of the constituency?

When you are cornered, you have no escape roots, and the result is mumblings and senseless talk. Mutharika talked the same lies in Lilongwe Msozi. This proves how untrustworthy DPP leadership is. This party is campaigning for doom for the country. It’s about time people who are capable should lead the country.

  4. What tangible developments has the DPP done in Nsanje Lalanje since Bingu’s leadership thru DPP MPs?
That development comes to an area thru a governing party MP is a lie that must not be allowed space in a democratic era. I thought Peter is learned and knows what a democratic government is and how it functions.
DPP has been importing and imposing MPs from neighbouring districts into Nsanje-Lalanje, yet the constituency has lots of able bodied sons and duaghters who can be supported to become MPs. Should we say that DPP only sees chaff in Nsanje thats why they have imposed Gladys Ganda from Balaka as a best representative for the Nsanje-Lalanje people?
The best MP for Nsanje-Lalanje people is their very son and not the stranger DPP is supporting.

  5. So by implication this area has no development . The last time a checked late Ganda was DPP member of parliament and never came. Therefore the assertion that the people of nsanje lalanje need to vote for DPP MP in order to have development is a fallacy. In other words it’s a blatant lie. And I believe people of nsanje know this. I need not to remind the people of nsanje about the inland port which was a major campaign tool but on ascendancy to power mutharika never talks about it. In other words the nsanje inland port was another lie.
