Mutharika fires press officer Mungomo

Albert Mungomo, President Bingu wa Mutharika’s press officer spokesman has been relieved of his duties, Nyasa Times understands.
State House officials confirmed that Mungomo has been fired by the Presidency and he has been given a two paragraph letter about his sacking.
Mutharika is yet to name a replacement.
But ruling DPP publicity secretary Hetherwick Ntaba remains spokesman of the President.
Mungomo – popularly known in Malawi as ‘Mr Blantyre’ – is one of the best announcers at MBC with some juicy sense of humour and a lot of MBC listeners missed him on radio.
He was popular as one of the good presenters for the morning breakfast programme on MBC named, ‘Tadzuka’.
Mungomo replaced Mutharika’s longest serving and effective Press Officer Chikumbutso Mtumodzi who is currently and deputy principal secretary in the Ministry of the Elderly and Disability.
