NAM owes Malawi Queens K890.0000: Players want unpaid allowances settled
Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) is yet to pay about K890.000 to Malawi Queens players for their participation in the World Netball Fast Five Series tournament which was held in Melbourne Australia.
Some players confirmed the development saying they were being frustrated to be taken for granted.
“Each player was supposed to receive over K89, 000 for various allowances and game bonus. Up to now nothing has happened,” said one player.
For instance, the player said they are being owed K60, 000 for three games they won, another K10, 000 for a friendly match against South Africa and K19, 000 for training allowance.
They were 10 players that made the trip meaning each player is owed K89, 000.
Another player said they were surprised that despite several companies pumping in a lot of money to the Queens they are not paid their allowances for the Fast Five Series.
The players said they were frustrated and that they lack motivation.
Malawi Netball Queens pocket a meager K1, 000 daily training allowance and K20, 000 winning game bonus.
It means that at the prevailing exchange rate of US$1=K729, each Queens’ player receives US$1.3 daily training allowance and $27.4 for a win.
Nam president Rose Chinunda was surprised when she was called for her comment: “Which allowances now? Iam not aware of anything.”
