Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) executive committee meeting in Blantyre on Tuesday night resolve the impasse surrounding the hiring of Malawi Queens coach by sticking with their decision to offer Peace Chawinga-Kalua and Mary Waya the positions of coach and assistant coach.
This means Waya has been demoted from head coach.
NAM general secretary Carol Bapu has since confirmed that Chawinga-Kalua had “in principle” accepted the offer, to be head coach.
Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) had said proper procedures were not followed when hiring the coaches.
But NAM has snubbed the Council of Sports and will instead stick to its earlier decision, according to a resolution by the meeting which was attended by Nam president, Rose Chinunda, vice president Chimwemwe Kachingwe, general secretary, Carol Bapu, vice treasurer Jane Kachali and the association’s legal counsel, Felister Jumbe, attended the meeting at Malawi Sun Hotel.
