Ndata Farm manager, Callista’s brother killed in road accident

Late president Bingu wa Mutharika’s Ndata Farm manager Chifundo Chapola was killed in a road accident in the wee hours of Friday.

He hit a stationary vehicle  on his way to Ndata Farm in Thyolo  on the Nansadi road.

Chapola is a brother to Malawi’s former First Lady Callista Mutharika.

His  body was brought to College of Medicine Friday morning for postmortem and embalming before taking it to Mitundu in Lilongwe where burial will take place.

Callista availed herself at the College of Medicine conspicuously devastated with the death.

His death comes amid legal tussle over the ownership of the opulent Casa Blanca Manor at Ndata Farm in Thyolo built by the late Mutharika.

The tussle is between Callista and and her step-children Duwa, Tapiwa and Madalitso.

Callista recently obtained letters of administration of former president Bingu wa Mutharika’s estate which effectively meant that she was in control of Mutharika’s estate, including Ndata Farm.

But Bingu’s children obtained an injunction restraining Callista from administering the estate.

Meanwhile, as reported by Nyasa Times on Thursday. the two sides have meanwhile agreed to settle their differences out of court.
