Nde’feyo signs two Malawi gospel artists

Malawi’s leading music company, Nde’feyo Entertainment, has said it is venturing into gospel music and it has added two artists to its roaster.

Describing it as a big announcement, the company wrote “We are venturing into gospel music. We have established a sub-label [known as] Ndefeyo Gospel.”

The label, which currently has five artists, plus a five-member band, did not mention who the new signings are but just said: “We have signed 2 artists for a start. They will be unveiled on Monday next week.”

However, it is strongly rumoured that one of the new signings is renowned youthful gospel artist Patience Namadingo of ‘Mtendere’ fame.

Nde’feyo boasts of top talent on the local music scene, as it currently manages Afro rapper/singer Piksy, Afro-R&B singer Armstrong, conscious hip-hop duo Biriwiri, newly –signed dancehall singer Trumel as well as Maziko Band.

Namadingo: On Nde’feyo ladder

Founded in 2008 by the Biriwiri duo of Khumbo ‘Kabuzi’ Munthali and Ken ‘Zizwa’ Limwame, Nde’feyo came in the limelight as a record label when it signed Afro-Pop singer Maskal of ‘Udalire’ fame, before they parted ways few months ago.

Under the label, Maskal recorded his debut 12-track album ‘Nthawi’ and a DVD. The label also secured him a deal with fixed phone company Access Communications Limited as their brand ambassador.

In October this year, the label also released Piksy debut album titled ‘Maso’ and secured him a brand ambassadorship deal with leading mobile phone company Airtel Malawi.

Over the weekend, Nde’feyo released Armstrong’s debut album ‘Ndele’ and will early next year be dropping Biriwiri’s new CD, before cutting Trumel’s yet-to-be titled album.

Nde’feyo is a fully functioning entertainment company, including artist and producer management; music publishing; touring & merchandising; communications; new business ventures; and a music label.

Its vision is to become a leading provider of entertainment in Malawi and Africa. Artists signed to Nde’feyo partake in full-rights deals, which are all encompassing and include live shows, record sales and all forms of endorsements.

Nde’feyo coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, marketing and promotion, and enforcement of copyright protection of sound recording and music videos.
