‘Ndikunyenyani on May 21’: Mutharika dares opposition on achievements, launches 75Km Liwonde-Mangochi Road

President Arthur Peter Mutharika says opposition political parties in the country have nothing to point at or offer  Malawians to win next week Tuesday’s May 21  Tripartite Elections.

Mutharika: The opposition failed to show me the right direction
Jappie Mhango: hailed Mutharika for spreading infrastructural development across the country

Mutharika made the remarks on Wednesday at Mangochi Stadium during a rally after opening the 75-kilometre long Liwonde–Mangochi Road which has cost government K29.5 billion.

The Malawian leader said the opposition has always faulted his leadership but failed to offer any solutions when asked to do so.

“They have been saying ‘this country is going towards the wrong direction’ and I’ve always challenged them to show me the right direction; nobody has done that!” Mutharika said.

“What the opposition is good at is sleeping – that’s why they always dream about my death. But it’s the opposition leaders who are going to die on May 21 because I’m going to slice them into pieces at the ballot!” he added.

Mutharika said government has achieved a lot in terms of road infrastructure, adding that come July 2019, the DPP-led government would embark on the construction of the Mangochi-Makanjira and Mangochi –Chilipa roads, respectively.

He, therefore, urged people in the district to cast their vote wisely by voting for DPP presidential, parliamentary and local government candidates for development to spread throughout the district.

“I’m pleading with you; don’t ever make any mistake of voting for the opposition parties into power you’ll suffer and cry for the rest of the next five years,” warned Mutharika.

He added that under the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) regime, people of Moto Village and the Chipemberes in Mangochi had faced indescribable atrocities.

On the rehabilitation of Mangochi–Liwonde Road, Mutharika said it would boost the tourism sector in the country as many people would now find it easier to travel to the lakeshore district’s tourism destinations.

Speaking earlier, Senior Chief Chimwala thanked Mutharika for the road, which he said, has not only changed the face of Mangochi but has also cut short the driving distance from Mangochi to Liwonde.

Chimwala appealed to Mutharika to continue being patient, saying he has since demonstrated a very good example of servant and tolerant leader.

“Chiefs have been drawing a lot of lessons from your patience and cool-heartedness and we urge you to continue being such,” Chimwala said.

Former Minister of Transport and Public Works Jappie Mhango hailed Mutharika for spreading infrastructural development across the country without favouring one region.

Mhango described the Mangochi–Liwonde Road as the first of its kind in the country, saying the reflectors that mark the lanes and shoulders make driving at night easier and enjoyable.

The 75-km Liwonde-Mangochi Road is part of the Nacala Road Corridor Development Project which the African Development Bank is supporting in Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia.

The project will facilitate international trade from the port of Nacala on the Indian Ocean in Mozambique through Chiponde Border to Lilongwe in Malawi up to Lusaka in Zambia.

To this effect, the road will reduce the cost of transporting goods among the three countries.

  1. IMAGINE WHAT THE MK3 BILLION GOVERNMENT COMPENSATION MONEY TO MULLI COULD HAVE DONE!,IMAGINE WHAT THE SALE OF GOVERNMENT MALAWI SAVINGS BANK LTD AT THE REAL MARKET VALUE COULD HAVE DONE! IMAGINE IF ALL THOSE ROAD CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS UNDER ONE MOTA ENGEL WERE NOT OVER VALUED TO SIPHON MONEY TO FUND PETER MUTHALIKA AND DPP, HOW MANY QUALITY ROADS COULD HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED INSTEAD OF THE MBOFYU, MBOFYU TYPE OF ROADS TO BORROW FROM MINISTER OF FINANCE, GOODAH GONDWE WORD???? IMAGINE WHAT THE BILLIONS OF KWACHAS WASTED IN THE CURRENT FISP APPROACH BEING SUSTAINED ON THE GROUNDS THAT ANAYIMBISA NDI MUCHIMWENE WANGA WERE TO BE EFFICIENTLY INVESTED IN PRODUCTIVE AGRICULTURAL PROJECTS!

IF MALAWIANS CAN CRITICALLY AND SOBERLY LOOK AT THESE ISSUES, PROFESSOR PETER MUTHALIKA WILL BE AT A DISTANT NUMBER THREE ON 21ST MAY 2019 JUST LIKE JOYCE BANDA BACK IN 2014.

  2. Kuyankhula mopusa nkhalamba iyi. Ambiri tidzakalamba koma nthawi zambiri we expect the old to lead by example and not to be stealing and kumagona ndi tiwana. Awa was already 25 when Getuludi was born and nchitsiru wawo ukupitirira. Chonchi angakupatseni ulemu wene Chilima? Unyenya ndani munthu wonyenyeka kale ngati iwe. Dzimanja khupakhupa ngati nkhuku or flightless bird. Dziko mudalipeza litakonzedwa kale. Munthu unachoka 1960 basi kumatimiza ndidathawa a Ngwazi. The Ngwazi was then in jail in Gweru. Iwe kungokutsera one day ku Lumbadzi basi Joyce Banda this Joyce Banda that. This road rehabilitation started with JB under the Nacala corridor project which saw Vale building a new railway line from Moatze to Nkaya. I repeat don’t cheat us that you ran away from Kamuzu Banda. You got your first degree in 1965 which means that you left Malawi before independence. Uyutu adzipita next week. Ngwazi sidapange chilichonse yet your brother praised the same Ngwazi. Akadati asamange Sanjika and Kamuzu Palace mudakamanga zija mwamanga ku KIA za substandard. Mkazi wako substandard. Chipewa substandard. A Ngwazi suit yokhayo. Kuba nkumene umadziwa iwe. You lost two wives and possibly udamunyenya.

  3. As someone has rightly put it, these elections are not for change of government but for change of Vice president basi. Boma sitimasintha ngati malaya. If we had a better alternative then we could have been talking about a change of government. Do you mean that we should have Joyce Banda back through the gullible MCP? Should we have Patricia Kaliati back in government aziti lalatila ngati ana through the over ambitious naive Chilima? Should we have baby Atupele azikapanga mfundo za Bakili zofiyila? Better stick to the devil we know.

  4. HISTORY SHOULD REMIND YOU MALAWIANS
real killers are out of MCP . check them in DPP OR just ask ALFRED yohane of MASAMBUKA case to tell you!!!

    1. TRUE, THE CURRENT MCP IS FULL OF INNOCENT PEOPLE.YET THE DPP AND UDF HAS THE VERY GUYS WHO USED TO BE IN THE VICIOUS OLD MCP.
DAUSI WAS ESPECIALLY OLD MCP PERSON. AND NOW DAUSI MUST APPEAR IN COURT TO ANSWER CONNECTIONS WITH THE KILLING OF OUR ALBINO BROTHERS AND SISTERS AFTER THE CURRENT ELCTIONS THAT IS AFTER 21ST MAY.

  5. Thanks to the African Development Bank, its my hope that you’ll continue with the SUPER HI FIVE ADMINISTRATION.

  8. Uvinyenyedi vitsiru, after all in these elections we are not electing president , we replacing only Veep. We already have sitting president who is remaining with 5 constitutional mandatory years to govern

  9. IWE MUTHARIKA YU BETTER SHUT UP YOUR MOUTH BWANJI SUKONDA MOYO WAKO OSAKAPUMA BWANJI, MAWU OZILIMBITSA MTIMA AYISE AMENEWO UTANYENYEDWE NDI IWEYO APM

  10. Yes, under his government he has contracted the road but he has not done with his pocket money. Its our money not his, he/they should not too much credit for this.

  11. fodya wamkulu……… kanundu……. a cant waist my vote on an old useless guy like you

  12. DPP , a den of thieves, every function is a party function, the funds for this road are from African Development Bank but they talk of DPP………………….. what a dull president Malawi has!!!

  13. Mr president sir, even if you open a thousand new roads, boreholes, technical schools etc… We still will not vote for you, tatopa nanu.

We dont want a leader that just sits phwii when his boys are killing albinos, murdering suspects, stealing our taxes, driving without proper number plates, pulling down other opposition party regalia, just because they are ana a adadi.

Let your “children” vote for you, the rest of us will not.

  14. Don’t talk as if these are personal achievements. The article is saying that the road is part of the Nacala corridor project which means it started during the Joyce Banda era not the Malemu Pulofesa Arthur Peter Mutharika time. Does it mean there was no road to Mangochi. Rehabilitation is what has happened. Most of the roads need to be rehabilitated. They have a lifetime. The initiator of the project was Dr. Kamuzu Banda. Have you travelled from Zomba to Balaka. The road needs rehabilitation. Have traveled from Lilongwe to Nkhamenya? It’s a death trap. It’s high time Malawians started realising that our taxes are used for these projects. We pay from our own pockets not from the Mutharika pocket.

Honestly Malemu Pulofesa Arthur Peter is the least charismatic leader. He doesn’t appeal to many. He is a thief. Be reminded that it’s really doubtful if the man has enough fuel in his tank. The warning signs are there. Uyutu samaliza term. Choose among Chakwera, Atupele and Saulosi. Malemu Pulofesa afika pa UDK buses or National Bus. Simukafika naye.

  15. DPP and APM why do you sound desperate to claim every credit for development projects.

First the Liwonde – Mangochi Rd was a project done by Kamuzu and he opened it. It is not right and true to claim that the road is done by APM thereforehe has launched it. Please have some shame in your efforts to dupe Malawians.

Second Muluzi renovated this road but sensibly so he never launched it because he knew that it was not a project under his rule but he had a duty to maintain public assets as per expectations of Malawians.

Third Malawians do not have to thank APM for maintaining roads when he was hired to do just that using our taxes. Enough of this insult of expecting Malawians to hero worship someone as if he is using his own money. The Malawi chiefs are in the forefront of this jungle behaviour and it’s sickening. Simply because of this hand clapping where it is not warranted this evening who rule take maximum advantage and become less accountable while the Presidents become semigods sitting pa sanja!!!

Four this DPP Government fails on accountability test because some of the roads they claim to have done are are a result of grants from ADB and World Bank if not loans from elsewhere as well. Indeed the roads that are of good quality are those done with money from donors under the supervision of a donor such as NkhataBay Rd – supervised by ADB and now the Mangochi Rd supervised by Workd Bank. But if you check the roads done with the revenue from MRA, they are an eyesore of poor quality with pot holes already. Such as Neno and Kasiya Rds! In addition one can see that if we take away all the roads that have been done with money from grants and loans, how many roads really go to the credit of APM?

Then finally let’s ask the big question what does DPP do with the public money? Frankly there is no much development that APM should Ben credited for, that is if Malawians are a curious, demanding, ambitious and watchful people!

DPP s a failure and outtttttt!!

    God save Malawi!

  16. What do you mean by saying “The Opposition did not show me the right direction?” Have you ever listened to advice from the opposition you Mr Know it all? Hear this you stupid foul mouthed Peter Mutharika; “God has seen our suffering under you leadership & He will cast the votes for Malawians to boot you out and give the mantle to a common person just like what He did to Saul & crowned the Shepherd David in his place because you have no respect for God & His creation which He had created in His own image!” God has weighed you and has found you wanting! (Mene Mene Tekel Upharsing). You can not say, “Ndikunyenyani to God’s likened creation. You are heading for disaster.” The mouth of the Lord God has spoken & it will come to pass!

  17. They will steal and kill more once we vote them back. Look at Jappies face, you can see a face of a very greedy stupid tumbuka who allows his people to suffer becuse they’d want to fill their stomach only. Malawi will be another hell for another five years once these crazy people win.

  18. Koma tikuvotereninso for properly utilising less than a quarter of our taxes zinazo Chisale ataika mmatumba?

    Mwauponda!
