New double cabins hits market, analysts call it game changer
One of the players in the automotive industry, Mike Appel and Gatto Limited on Thursday introduced the JAC T8 automobile on the local market, describing it as a game changer.
Valued at K99 million, the JAC T8 is a 1.999 cc double-cabin touted for its exceptional fuel efficiency and comprehensive safety features, that comes with a 5-year warrant.
During a cocktail to announce the product, the company’s Sales Manager Lawrence Likoswe, said the vehicle will take the company forward in the local market.
“The T8’s impressive fuel efficiency is a compelling choice for customers who need a work-ready but also desire the comfort and power for adventurous lifestyles, including off-road excursions and towing.
“This car has been built to last. It was put together by bringing together Volkswagen and JAC so it is one of the durable brands on the market.
Our proof of durability of the car is the warrant. We are offering 5 years or 100,000 kilometers warrant which is the longest that anyone is offering in the Malawi market,” Likoswe said.
He added that double cabin sales are in the ranges of about 800 vehicles, and they are optimistic to grab about 20 percent of the market in the first year and continue to improve as time goes.
One of the patrons during the event, Lumbani Nyirenda said the product is compelling.
“It is luxurious in appearance, economic in that the engine is small and looks strong for heavy duty. It has all the features that one would look for such as the reverse camera, it has an inbuilt android system and a touch screen on the radio among others,” Nyirenda said.
