Newlywed on honeymoon death shocks Malawians
Chiyembekezo Chikafa, 27, had just married Sevi Chikafa Mmanga, 25 when he was drowned while swimming in a pool on Sunday at Sunbird Lilongwe Hotel.
Chikafa was working at Eco Bank while his wife Sevi Chikafa Mmanga works for NBS bank and both hail from Mtambo Village, T/A Mlumbe in Zomba.
“Such a wonderful future together after waiting so long. To have it cut so soon, so tragically, beyond belief,” said the devastated newlywed wife and now widow.
According to police spokesman in Lilongwe Kingsley Dandaula, the couple married on Saturday September 28, 2013 and had their wedding reception at Lilongwe Golf club but was on honeymoon at Sunbird Lilongwe hotel when the husband drowned.
The death shocked many Malawians who many paid their tributes to the deceased and offered heartfelt condolences to the widow through social media.
