The symbolic presentation was made in Mwenda Village in Zomba where Village X Country Director Myson Jambo on said the whole project cost over K30 million.

“What is so admirable about all this is that it’s the community leaders themselves who advise us on the needs that they feel they should be assisted with,” Jambo said on Saturday.

“So the projects are tailor made to suit their needs and they also mobilize themselves with their own contribution like providing the land and funds used to mould bricks.

“We do everything in collaboration with the traditional leaders as well as development committees. We just don’t deliver what we think are needs for rural communities but we make sure they positively participate,” Jambo said.

He added that they are so happy working with the communities and so far they are in this type of collaboration with over 120 village communities in eight districts across the country and their intention is to work with over 1,000.

“The communities chose boreholes to be closer to the nursery schools as part of providing good sanitation for the kids as well as assisting their households.

“So for this year we have built one nursery school and three boreholes in Zomba, two nursery schools and a boreholes in Mulanje and one nursery in the North.

“I should also add that we are very impressed with the speed they mobilize themselves to complete their side of self-help contributions that within a month or two we manage to have the projects completed,” Jambo said.

On his part Village Headman Mwenda said they were so proud of what they have been assisted with.

“The school building shall also act as a meeting place for for us chiefs and the development committee and can also act as a church,” Mwenda said.

He said they are going to put in place measures that parents should make sure they send their kids for their kindergarten upbringing.

“The parents have been made aware how important nursery schools are as early childhood education,” the chief said.

“So we will put strict measures, such as fines, to make the parents to properly utilize what we have been given,” he said.
