Ng’onamo named Malawi coach: Mtawali, Mabedi deputies
Eddington Ng’omano has been appointed Malawi national football team head coach.
Big Bullets FC coach succeeds Kinnah Phiri who has been deployed into a demoted role of northern region football director.
Football Association of Malawi on Wednesday also agreed the backroom staff of Ng’onamo.
Former national team stars Patrick Mabedi and Ernest Mtawali have been appointed as assistant coaches to Ng’onamo despite widepsread speculation linking Englishman Andy Dell with the vacancy after Kinnah was axed.
The new team manager is Captain Charles Manda while Kondwani Kachipanda is the team doctor taking over from Matthews Mangondo and Stuart Mbolembole respectively..
According to FAM statement the new panel will be in charge of the national team up to September 2013.
“This offer is valid up until the end of the 2013World Cup qualifiers in September 2013 and is subject to the offer being accepted,” FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda said in a statement.
Malawi national team will need to thoroughly prepare for the World Cup whose next game is in March against Namibia.
The former coaching panel that comprised head coach Kinnah Phiri, deputy coach Young Chimodzi and technical advisor Jack Chamangwana. They were booted out a week ago owing to national team’s dismal performance.
And government redeployed them to regions as directors.
