Njenjete prey on Bankers: Malawi TNM Super League

Silver Strikers hopes of defending the TNM Super League title for a third consecutive time took another knock on Monday, July 07, 2014 when the bankers fell prey to Epac, alias Njenjete zaku Lilongwe in a game played at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Winger Davie Moya, a rejected stone at Silver, passed the judgement on his former side as he struck straight from a free kick 18 minutes into the game.

The bankers tried all they could to level the scores but Njenjete stood firm at the back to record a sweet victory over the struggling giants.

Silver’s coach Stain Chirwa accepted defeat but refused to discuss his side’s chances of defending the TNM Super League title.

“We have lost but we cannot talk about the league championship in the first round- let’s wait for the second round. We are going through rough times but I hope things will change and we will be back to our winning ways,” said Chirwa.

His counterpart Audlo Makonyola said he was pleased with the victory after losing in two previous competitive matches.

“Coming from two losses, we were under a bit of pressure but the pressure is now off our shoulders and we are looking forward to collecting more points in the coming fixtures,” said Makonyola.
