Some people from Nsanje and Chikhwawa said the situation is very critical when they are referred to use the X ray facilities.

One woman from Nsanje claimed she was asked to pay K500 for the service whilst a man from Chikhwawa said he was forced to pay K2000 because he does not come from Nsanje.

Spokesperson for Nsanje District Hospital Saiti Piriminta said the hospital has not received official complaints.

“Unless we receive official complaints, it is very difficult for us to act on rumours,” he said. However he said all health services at the district hospital are for free.
