Nomads bus attack overshadow Bullets win

Despite their team winning the Carlsberg Cup finals, Nyasa Big Bullets supporters were not satisfied as they smashed Be Forward Wanderers bus in the process injuring some players.

The Peoples Team beat Wanderers 3-5 in the penalties on Saturday at Bingu National Stadium to be crowned Carlsberg Cup Champions.

However, after the match when Wanderers bus was leaving the stadium to their accommodation Novablanca Lodge, some Bullets fans started pelting stones at the bus forcing Wanderers players to catch one fan with an aim of handing him over to the police.

Hell broke loose,when six glasses were smashed with big stones with players inside the bus.

Some players run away through windows as the stones were too much.

In took some minutes before the police van arrived to rescue the team.

The Nomads bus was escorted to Kanengo Police with a police van escort which also carried the four arrested Bullets fans.

The supporters confensed at the police station that they were indeed Bullets fans.

Some of the injured were defender Stanely Sanudi,team doctor Samuel Matukuta,goalkeepers trainer Vales Kamzere and Security Officer Mabvuto Kunsowa.

They received treatment at Kamuzu Central Hospital after being recorded statement at area 18 police station.

Wanderers captain Joseph Kamwendo described the whole process as unfortunate.

“They won the match but we dont know why stoning our bus and in the process injuring some of our colleagues.This is not football and something has to be done,”said Kamwendo.
