Nomads GS tells supporters to provide financial support

Mighty Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao has pleaded with Mighty Wanderers followers not only to back the club through vocal support but also seriously consider contributing to the club financially in a bid to help the team regain its lost glory.

Butao faulted the supporters for only relying on the club executive to source funding for the club.

This comes amid worries due to low support by the Nomads fans in patronizing the “Noma Yathu” SMS competition launched by the club last month as well as Telecom Networks Malawi’s (TNM) TNM Supporter Mapeto Promotions.

“The supporters rely on the executive to dig deeper into their pockets to buy players and find other resources to run the affairs of the club which is contrary to other clubs,” said Butao.

He cited an example of fellow Bullets supporters [which also has no sponsor] who currently leads in generating funds for the club through TNM Supporter Mapeto Promotion.

“Other people are doing things that are helping their teams instead of talking a lot of bad things against their own club. For example our friends Bullets FC have been dominating the TNM Supporter Mapeto Promotion” he said.

“To all our supporters what I can say is that our colleagues Bullets FC are able to do it why can’t we do it also” wondered Butao.

The General Secretary has since pleaded with the supporters to avoid hostility but rather provide positive solutions to serve the club.

Mighty Wanderers launched “Noma Yathu” SMS competition in September.

Supporters are asked to send an SMS message to Noma 1010 where they will be asked questions

Through this, apart from helping the club, they also stand a chance to win various prizes including Plasma screens, golf shirts, fridges, Kukoma cooking oil with a Vanette Minibus as the grand prize.

The first draw for the competition takes place this Friday at the Wanderers Club House in Blantyre.

The club has been struggling to find another official sponsors since loosing their long time sponsorship romance with Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) some years ago.

They however enjoyed a temporally two year K15 million annual sponsorship from Carlsberg Limited along side their traditional rivals Bullets FC.

BUTAO YOU ARE RIGHT. A GENUINE NOMAD CANNOT TALK RUBBISH ABOUT HIS CLUB. TEAMS EVERYWHERE ARE SUPPORTED BY THEIR FANS. IN CASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW, A SUPPORTER SUPPORTS THE CLUB WHILE A FAN IS A CHEER LEADER. BWITOTO, EDWIN,NEWX AKOKO, MBOLO SIDWALA, NONSENU PAMTUMBO PANU SIINU A MANOMA ZITSILU, MUKANAKHALA PAFUPI NDI KANAKUPATSANI MAKOFI.
