Dickson Mbetewa jnr scored a superb late winner as Red Lions came from behind to stun Mighty Be Forward Wanderers in a friendly match on Sunday at Limbe Country Club in Blantyre.
Innocent Bokosi fine low shot gave the visitors the lead, but Rafiq Mussa’s close-range strike levelled matters.
A lovely curled corner kick by Luka Milanzi landed in Innocent’s head who put the Nomads ahead before the break only for Innocent Bokosi to level with a magnificent penalty.
Bokosi, who was a thorn to the Nomads defence also hit the bar towards the early kick off of the second half.
Despite making several changes in the second half, the Nomads allowed the visitors to boss around the middle of the park.
The Nomads were dangerous on the left flank where Ibraham Sadik in the 67th minute played a clinical pass into Jimmy Zakazaka , who turned sharply before running purposefully towards goal and drilling a fine low cross-shot over the bar.
It was the start of a lengthy spell of the Nomads domination, both in terms of possession and territory.
The visitors wasted several excellent shooting chances, especially Boniface Kaulesi.
The chances were not clear-cut but the visitors looked in control as the Nomads looked dis-jointed on the middle of the park, where Patrick Gunde failed to dominate.
The Nomads keeper hesitated as a long corner drifted into the box and was unable to recover his position in time to keep out Bokosi low strike, but thanks to Peter Nselema’s clearance.
Red Lions started to show the belief and intensity they were missing and their attacking intent was rewarded when Mbetewa jnr scored the winning goal.
Bokosi almost completed his brace soon after, but his curled effort from the edge of the box smashed against the bar and to safety.
But the Nomads , who had won all their pre season games against Envirom, Chinangwa Madrid , were posing just as great a danger.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
