Mighty Wanderers continued their fantastic performance towards the season with a 3-2win against Chikwawa United at Kalulu Stadium on Saturday.
Mike Kaziputa scored a brace with his second goal, firing home from six yards and Cuthbert Sinetre hit the third goal.
There was little from the home team on a hot afternoon in the lower Shire, but the Nomads were clinical and played with the extra bit of quality they needed to secure victory.
The Nomads raced out of the blocks and carved out the first chance in the fifth minute.
Chikwawa United defender broke from a Nomads corner and found their keeper, who curled his effort onto the crossbar.
The home team threatened in the 20th minute but the Nomads defence was equal to their effort.
Then Kaziputa rounded two defenders before his low finish was blocked on the line by an opponent defender.
But the left midfielder didn’t disappoint from his next chance. He capitalised on a defensive error before evading Chikwawa’s territory and firing into the bottom corner for his goal.
Mapopa Kaunda went through one-on-one but Chikwawa keeper came out on top, smothering the ball just before half-time as the Nomads went into the break leading in front of approximately 377 fans.
Chikwawa United were rejuvenated after the interval and one of their strikers nearly levelled when he fired just wide of the far post.
However, the Nomads defence went to sleep twice as they conceded two silly goals.
But the Nomads hit back immediately, with Cuthebert Sinetre converting a well floated cross inches wide at the back post.
The Nomads then caused all kinds of confusion as they burst into Chikwawa’s box several times.
The blues have now moved to position 9 with 34 points.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
