Nsakakuona guides Malawi U-17 in Cosafa semis

Coach Declerk Nsakakukona has guided Malawi Under-17 national football to storm into the 2017 Under-17 Cosafa Championship semi-finals  in Mauritius after a successful group campaign.

Nsakakuona: Coach for Malawi U-17

The Junior Flames whacked Zimbabwe and Botswana before beating  the hosts, Mauritius  2-0 on Wednesday to book their semi-final berth.

Malawi ‘golden generation’ of football starts are expected to meet Zambia in the semis.

Nsakakuona said he is “thrilled” with the performance of his charges, but said it was still “work in progress.”

He said in the semis the Junior Flames will give a highly polished performance.

“I know it is going to be tough be we will turn up for the task,” he said.

Malawi finished top of Group A to set up a date against neighbours Zambia, who were runners-up in Group B.

The junior Flames defeated hosts Mauritius 2-0 courtesy of Patrick Mwaungulu and Joseph Balakasi strikes to claim a deserved victory.

Meanwhile, Zambia Under-17 coach Mumamba Numba says Malawi will be a hard nut to crack in the semis.

” Malawi are playing very good football just like us, so it is a match between two strong teams. But we are focused and highly motivated,” said Numba in quotes reported by Zambia Daily Mail.

The other semi-final will be between South Africa and hosts Mauritius.

That’s the best news to have come out of the football circles in Malawi in over a decade. Finally the junior Flames looks to provide hope to the less hopeless soccer loving Malawians that there is still light at the end of the Flames’ tunnel. Congrats ma Young Flames and BIG UP to coach Nsakakuona. BTW never heard about this guy before, does anyone know more about him? Not that it matters but I am just being curious. Thanks
