Record was broken on Monday at Malawimusic.com website when one particular song, ‘Miracle Money’ done by Onesmus Muzik, had to attract an incessant traffic for downloads to an extent that the website had to jam for some good 30 minutes, Nyasa Times can reveal.
The download trend which was closely monitored by Nyasa Times was hitting a surprising 11, 000 downloads in a space of 11 hours clearly beating the record which had been held by Gwamba.
Gwamba’s hit track “John Tembo” broke the record by achieving slightly over 9, 000 downloads in 24 hours.
Apparently, Miracle Money hit may as well stand out for a considerable long period of time before it gets outdone by any song on the downloads achievement as it stands estimated that at its download rate, about 23, 000 downloads will have been achieved in 24 hours of its upload.
Speaking to Nyasa Times, Malawimusic.com representatives, Timothy Mtilosanje, conceded that Miracle Money hit has, so far, established its own league since Malawimusic.com music download platform was launched in 2011.
“Our last record was a song titled John Tembo done by Gwamba. It fetched over 9, 000 downloads in 24 hours. Which means to outdo this record, the next track needed to achieve 10, 000 or more downloads. Apparently, Miracle Money has surpassed that benchmark. It’s not 24 hours yet but the track has managed to pull over 11, 000 downloads. It is not even 12 hours yet, actually it’s 11 hours since it has been uploaded,” said Mtilasanje at 18:54 GMT when the song was standing at 11, 237 downloads.
The Miracle Money song, which has exploded itself into the arena with a disturbing bang, is contained in Onesmus Muzik’s newly produced album titled “Epikaizo” which has a total of 14 tracks.
The song was uploaded along with other songs by other artists including ‘Aposa’ by an artist called Jay Stranger (31 downloads); ‘Bank Account’ by Real Curth (39 downloads); ‘Andisophore’ by Trap C (541 downloads); and ‘Bawa Bawa’ by Mayar Noel ft Martse (2, 044 downloads) among others.
