Onesimus marries Merhu in ceremony at Assemblies of God church
Malawian musician Armstrong Sopani Kalua, popularly known as Onesimus, tied the knot today with his bride, Merhuniciah James, in a ceremony held at Assemblies of God, Eagles Cathedral in Area 47, Lilongwe.

Among those present at the wedding was Onesimus’s former manager, Tonderai Banda, who was seated alongside his father, well-known ‘Mr Entertainer’Jai Banda.
The singer, known for his chart‑topping hits and high‑energy performances, arrived in crisp formal wear, while Merhu stunned in an elegant bridal gown that lit up the church aisle.
The ceremony blended celebrity sparkle with deep religious tradition, turning the service into one of the most talked‑about weddings of the season.
Guests described the atmosphere as electric, with the couple exchanging vows in a service filled with music, prayer and emotional tributes.
For Onesimus, whose rise in Malawi’s music scene has been meteoric, the wedding marks a new chapter both personally and professionally.
Outside the church, family and friends gathered to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds, with social media erupting in congratulatory messages and photos from the ceremony.
