Officials from Young Politicians Union have expressed concern that the ongoing political squabbles in the opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) are scaring and putting off potential young politicians in the country.
Young Politicians Union (YPU) official Clement Makuwa has since asked MCP president Lazarus Chakwera to put his house in order so that young people who want to make politics a career should be attractive.
Makuwa gave a stinging accusation to Chakwera for the recent firings and suspensions of senior party officials who openly criticised the party president.
“This shows the party is not ready to take new ideas from its officials. This is detrimental to the future of the party and young people who want to join the party,” said Makuwa.
Chakwera recently fired senior officials Felix Jumbe and Chatinkha Chidzanja Nkhoma and suspended Jessie Kabwila and Joseph Njobvuyalema among others on allegations they were bringing confusion in the party.
Makuwa said there was need for proper procedures before people were fired from the party.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
