Passengers hurt in National Bus crash in Liwonde

Several passengers were seriously injured after a Marcopollo bus from the National Bus Company registration number BQ 4802, on Saturday crashed in eastern town of Liwonde,   2 Km from Machinga Teachers Training College when the driver lost control of the bus after its propeller shaft broke.

None of the injuries was believed to be life-threatening, according to Police

Jaibu Jawadu who was at the scene of the accident when it occurred , told Nyasa Times that a dozen people have been injured, some  of them critically.

Jawadu said the bus overturned following the damaging of the propeller shaft.

“What happened was that the driver wanted to evade the pothole and he ended up losing control of the whole bus.

“It was terrible to see the bus cruising off the lane heading to the houses but it landed on trees,” said Jawadu.
