People’s Party UK wing gets going, organises meeting
The People’s Party of President Joyce Banda, UK Wing, has sent a condolence message to the Malawi nation and the family of late President Bingu Wa Mutharika who passed away last Thursday and has organised a meeting to allow people join the party.
The interim chairperson Hannington Gondwe and his deputy Chipiliro Mpinganjira have said People’s Party UK Wing are “saddened ” with the death of the President and would want Malawians to mourn him with diginity as called by President Joyce Banda.
The PP UK Wing has been in operation since last September and has so far had members from all over UK.
One of the aims of the Wing is to offer Malawians in the Diaspora an opportunity to discuss issues affecting Malawi and also give constructive ideas that will be forwarded to PP Malawi as part of the recently launched ‘Tiuzeni Campaign’.
Mpinganjira , a lawyer by training and son to PP treasurer general Brown Mpinganjira, told Nyasa Times that there will be an ‘Orange Get Together’ in Manchester on Saturday, 5th May.
He said they will start with a formal meeting at 3PM and an informal gathering thereafter at Q Club, 14 Newton Street, M1 7AF.
Mpinganjira also said that on this day the Executive Committee will be chosen.
Gondwe said “it is of paramount importance for each and every Malawian based in the UK to try to make it for this important meeting” so that the structures can be in place ready to assist the government.
