Petra UK wing holds fundraising party

People’s Transformation Party (Petra) UK wing will hold a Christmas party for Malawians in the UK, other African natives and other nationalities across the globe to celebrate the festive season as well as raise money to help the party in Malawi.

Organising committee chairperson Elizabeth Makossah, who is also the Wing’s deputy treasure said the party will be held in, Nottingham on Christmas Eve at Hyson Green Youth Club Centre behind Hyson Green Asda along Terrace Street in (NG7 6ER) from 8:00pm till late.

“We are inviting Malawians, Africans and all other people from across the globe to come and join us in celebrating Christmas the Malawian way,” she said.

Makossah: Party in aid of Petra

She said the merrymaking event will attract top Malawian DJ’s to play Malawi music alongside other renowned African and British DJ’s and MC’s will also feature emphasizing that the aim is to put mother Malawi on the global map and not advance partisan politics.

She said: “We would like to show them why we are called the ‘Warm of heart Africa’ and thus we would want them to see how we as Malawians and not members’ of Petra celebrate Christmas.”

But she was quick to point out that the party despite being organised by Petra UK wing it will be apolitical and is inviting all Malawians in spite of their political affiliations to come and join in the celebration, saying  it is a more of a ‘Malawian party’ and not necessarily a political gathering.

“For us, our country comes first than any political attachment or affiliation so it is a Malawian party and not a political party gathering. There will be no politics but celebrating Christmas as Malawians. Before becoming members of any political party, we are Malawians first and foremost, and that’s how must be identified, people with a sense of belonging and patriotism to our country, all else come last,” said Makossah.

She said entry fee to the party is £10 pounds per head for advance tickets and £15 or more on the day but stressed out that tickets will not be sold at the door.

Petra UK wing publicist Fides Jim Kachale said:” Our aim is to make sure people from other countries know more about Malawi, its people and their cultures and above all else how Malawians  celebrate together in festive seasons. There will be lots of Malawian things. We are not just called Africa’s friendliest people for nothing; we want to prove that beyond belief to the world how unique we are.”

Freedom

Kachale explained that when one buys a ticket he will buy freedom and happiness to drink all night long as well as having an opportunity to interact with Malawian people, who described as most honest, hospitable and humble people in the world.
