Piksy cancels UK trip, Mlaka set to fly on Friday
Malawi’s Afro rapper/singer, Piksy, has cancelled his trip to the UK where he was scheduled to perform this weekend, as gospel singer Mlaka Maliro is still waiting for a visa for the same trip.
The artists were supposed to leave this week for England to perform at the Miss Malawi UK party in Birmingham this Saturday, 13 September, but their visas were yet to be processed as of today, Thursday 11 September.
“Until now they [organisers of the show] haven’t processed our visas and we’re yet to get travel arrangements,” disclosed Piksy on Wednesday.
But speaking from Lilongwe, where he was waiting for communication on visas and air ticket, Mlaka said: “I’ve been told that they are collecting the visas today [Thursday] and possibly I’ll be traveling tomorrow.”
The trip is being facilitated by H&K Events, organisers of the Miss Malawi UK beauty pageant.
Speaking from UK, Henry Dokowe Ngwira of H& K Events confirmed there have been delays, while saying: “I am sure we will win in the end, will update you”.
At the event, Piksy and Mlaka were expected to share the stage with Marco Sadik and Pop Dogg, Malawian artists who are based in Netherlands and Ireland, respectively.
