Piksy drops another new song ‘Maloto’

Award-winning Afro rapper/singer, Piksy, is at it again as he has released another highly-addictive song titled ‘Maloto’ [Dreams].

It is his second brand new release in less than two weeks after the top chart track ‘Tsoka Liyenda’, which is currently on Number One on the malawi-music.com Top 50 singles chart.

‘Maloto’, a soft Afro dance beat produced by DJ Sley at Chit Chat Records in the capital Lilongwe, makes it clear that Piksy means nothing but business as he gears to put out another top notch album called ‘Mnthunzi’, slated for release within the next three months.

In the song, the artist, who is also fondly known as CCNB by his fans, finds himself in the dreamland where he becomes a proud father to a newly-born baby.

The chorus goes: “Ndinalota maloto otsekemera ine (inde) Mwana wanga atafanana nawe nde nde nde (iwe) Ngati ndisadzuke Usazandikhumudwetse (eh) Poti mtima wanga kukhala nawe wavomera (oh yeh yeh yeh)”.

Speaking on his latest music and the forthcoming 12-track album, Piksy told Nyasa Times that ‘Mnthunzi’ dwells on maturity.

“People should expect more matured songs, an album that’s gonna freeze the next button,” he said. “And in this album there’s more of singing than rapping. I have made songs that will be enjoyed when I’m performing live.”

In vernacular Chichewa, “mnthunzi” means “shelter”, and according to Piksy, he named his second album ‘Mnthunzi’ because “no matter how hard life is we still find shelter in God”.

The album is expected to feature the likes of Peter Sambo, Third Eye, Lulu and Wendy Harawa.

Piksy, who is Airtel Malawi brand ambassador, released his first solo album titled ‘Maso’ in 2012 under Nde’feyo Entertainment, a label he left last year. He is currently not signed to any stable.
