Police apprehend two dangerous criminals
Another job well-done for Malawi Police Service. After an intensive man hunt, police at Zalewa Trading Centre in Neno District have arrested two criminals described as dangerous who have been on the run for sometime.
Police have named the two “wanted criminals” as Hebert Kazizi and Chimchere Lazaro both from Zalewa area in TA Symon in the district.
Zalewa Police Officer in Charge Bravo Chipelesa said the two suspected thugs were pounced on during a sweeping exercise conducted at the trading centre last week.
Chipelesa said Kazizi and Lazaro have been terrorizing the area by breaking into people’s homes for sometime and have been at large until on the day of their fate.
“We have been looking for the two for sometime and we finally managed to capture them during an intensive sweeping exercise we conducted around the trading centre,” said the officer in charge.
He said the three were currently in police custody and have been charged with three counts of theft, burglary and which is contrary to Section 311 (1) of the Penal Code.
Murder suspects in
In a similar development, police in Blantyre have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder two weeks ago of Yohane Phiri, a guard at Michiru View Private Secondary School in the city.
Phiri was murdered while on duty and the assailants broke into the institution’s office where they stole a computer, digital camera, 15 mobile phones for students and cash amounting to over K300 000.
Police have identified the two suspects as Christopher Chilewe, 46, alleged to have bought the computer and a 15-year-old girl believed to have carried the computer to Chilewe.
