Police arrest two boys for murdering 30-year-old drunkard man

Police in Nkhata Bay are keeping in custody two boys for being suspected they murdered a 30-year-old man and stealing cash from him.

The deceased has been identified as Fwambauwone Chilenje who was killed at Mkondezi area in the district.

Police mentioned the two boys who committed the offence as Sandra Msegede Nyirongo, 15, and William Yasin, aged 16 both coming from Chapumbwa village, T/A Mkumbira in the same district.

Nkhata Bay Police Spokesperson, Martin Bwanali, told Nyasa Times, the deceased was a casual labour working at constructing site of the new Nkhata Bay District Hospital.

Bwanali said the deceased was an addicted alcohol partaker and he was always in an intoxicated state.

“The two boys took advantage of his state and stole some undisclosed amount of money from him. The deceased went to the parents of the boys and complained to them about their children’s barbaric behavior.

“When the children were summoned by their parents to be questioned if they indeed stole money from Fwambauwone, they denied any knowledge,” he said.

Later, the boys reportedly became furious with the deceased and started trailing him until they found him and seriously beat him up. He sustained internal breeding.

The victim was found dead in his house at Mkondezi on 3 April 2014 and was taken to Nkhata Bay District Hospital for postmortem which reveled death was due to severe loss of blood owing to internal injury.

The deceased hailed from Chapumbwa village, T/A Mkumbira in Nkhata Bay District.
