Police ‘kidnaps’ LL independent candidate: MCP  forces him to withdraw from race

Panic mode activated. Malawi Congress Party (MCP) are trying hard to stop Lilongwe Nsinja South aspiring independent candidate Yamikani Chadza to withdraw from the race for fear of being embarrassed if they lose the March 30 by elections in the area.

Lilongwe Nsinja South aspiring independent candidate Yamikani Chadza

Nyasa Times can reveal that about 6 Police vehicles with heavily armed Police officers ‘took’ Chadza to Dickson Trading Centre on Thursday to address  a rally announcing withdraw of his candidature after hours of debate at State House accompanied by Home Affairs Minister Richard Chimwendo Banda.

Several of his supporters confirmed the story including Chadza’s campaign director Sam Mbendera.

“We are currently waiting for him (Chadza) at his house in Area 43 to come back from State House where he has gone in the company of Chimwendo Banda,” said Mbendera.

He alleged that MCP is afraid that Chadza would win the by election with a landslide and the development would be embarrassing to the party which regards Lilongwe as its stronghold.

MCP will be represented by Francis Belekanyama, son to former cabinet minister and MP for the area Lingson Belekanyama who succumbed to Covid-19 on 12 January 2021.

“We told our candidate what to answer during his meeting at State House so we are waiting for him to get feedback,” said Mbendera.

He said Chadza will win the elections because he is a ‘people’s person’ and has not been imposed on the people.

“Chadza is development conscious and he is expected to present two proper  ambulances to Chiunjiza and Dickson Health Centres which were neglected during the late Belekanyama’s time.  People were traveling to Mitundu Health Centre which is more than 30 kilometres away in Lilongwe Nsinja North constituency,” said Mbendera.

We reported a bizarre incident where Chadza is said to have been struck by a lightning whilst in his sleep and had blood oozing from his nose and mouth when he woke up. He was taken to Kamuzu Central Hospital for medical treatment.

He has since been discharged.

  3. MAFIA RULE!!!!ABUSA and MCP BECOMES BUNCH OF GANGSTERS!!!! Well done Malawi!!! MALAWI HAS NO HOPE!!! TOTALLY HOPELESS

  4. I am totally flabbergasted! Why create ‘parliamentary inheritance’? MCP is totally out of order. In Karonga by-elections it featured the son. Here we are again – the son is in the race. Does that mean that these sons were next best in those constituencies? Quite questionable.

  5. Chakwera chadzaza ndi matsenga. Chanza ayenera kukhala osamala. popanda matsenga Chakwera akanakhala pa Seventh Day Mission. choncho samalani.

  6. The answer is simple my brother. Chanda may have faced a stronger candidate the last time, but this time around, he has proven to be the toughest. He learnt from his past mistakes and has come up with a better strategy. Apikene?

  7. IFE TILI KU MA STAND KUWONELERA KUTI GAME YANU ITHA BWANJI.TINKANENATU PAJA.’Fisi ndi Fisi sangakhalenso Mbuzi

  8. Hehe. First, they sent lightening to strike him in his dreams. It didn’t work, for he woke up just in the nick of time!

    Now this!

He seems to be a tough nut to crack. Mutumizileni pedegu ameneyu.

  9. HRDC PLEASE INTERVENE, THIS IS NOT KAMUZI’S ERA.

SHOULD HAVING VOTED FOR CHAKWERA OF MCP BE A PROBLEM?

WHY SHOULD WE REGRET VOTING FOR CHAKWERA OF MCP?

HRDC PLEASE ASSIST. GUYS IF YOU CAN ASSIST IN ALERTING HRDC ABOUT THIS ISSUE, PLEASE DOO

  10. Is this the first time to run in that constituency,,if not what was his excuse when he lost to senior belekanyama..This are the kind of guys who pay reporters to write there stories just to gain cheap fame..Just go and compete,if you win you win,if you lose that’s it..osati tiziti lero timve za lighting, mawa kidnapping..After all there are several by elections around the country and no candidate has complained just like you..Foolish guy.

  11. Apa zathina basi. Iwe Chadza usalore zimene akuuze kumeneko ife zopakanazi tatopa nazo .Tonse amene timachokera kwa K ampini , Dickisoni ,Mbonde, ndi Chiunjiza tikuti iwe ndiwe phungu wathu osati Belekanyauyo ayi.

  12. Bodza ili. I don’t believe in the story. I wonder what development MPs bring. You talk of boreholes. You talk of substandard school blocks. You talk of substandard bridges. Wake up Malawians. These MPs are just after money and cars.

  13. Aa! Aa! MCP, MCP, MCP when shall you stop these barbaric acts? The more you claim to be a rebranded party the more you remain the same old dark, evil, crooked ,cruel and pathetic party. We are done with family dynasties, remember.

  14. Matsenga atakanika kumumaliza, they have opted to arrests. MCP, what happened to freedoms? He has the right to participate, the same way the citizens have a right to choose.

  15. The story doesn’t make sense to a sane person.

Nyasa Times has already stated that the so called statehouse meeting already took place and was followed by a Mr Chadza being escorted by 6 heavily armed police vehicles to Dickson Trading centre to announce his withdrawal.

Why then should his supporters be waiting for him at his Area 43 house to come from a statehouse meeting that already took place?

First it was a dream lightning strike claim. Now he is cooking this uncoordinated halfbaked story.

Inu mwapanga kale ma comment, are your comments based on your hate of MCP or your failure to discern garbage from truth?

  16. You want our area to remain undeveloped by supporting useless people. Mwanya nayo anthu okonda zipani inu! Development comes first! To hell with politics!

  17. Down with MCP and UTM Malawians should take Action in there Hands and NOT allow MCP to dictate there terms and Malawi is a Free Country
Malawians do not want to go back to Slavery Era

Wake up Malawians take ACTION against the Corrupt Politicians and Ministers RIP them and Make them RIP for ever

  18. I don’t think MCP can be that stupid to do something like this. The who story from lightining to this doesn’t add up. Another Kamlepo story in the making.

  19. This habit of making constituency representation a family affair must stop. Is MCP supporting Belekanyama, against all odds, just to please the family?

  20. Is just the beginning, wait until the 75 graduate from police academy. Mcp won’t change their dark arts

    1. I think its high time MCP must learn from past mistakes, parties have been doing in dirty politics. Malawians are tired of family politics for we are in a democratic regime not dynasty. Politicians should learn to heed to the citizens wish as is one of the fundamental rights in a democratic regime. Why wasting resources to mobilise the Police to escort a candidate to cheat the citizens that he has withdrawn when if fact he hasnt? Instead of allowing the wish of the people to prevail they are busy doing things in a wrong way. Learn if you are to do well but if you cling to this kind of leadership, believe me your days are numbered. Change the mindset or perish Malawians will never be taken for granted again. Am not a politician but i follow it as a citizen and like calling spade spade. We want the Government of the people and for the people not for a few ill minded individuals. Mind you, the people are the ones to vote not party leaders so trade carefully or else you will lose miserably and regret at the end of the day. How i wish leaders realise what is important before the people and for the people. You want to repeat same mistakes why??
