Malawi Parliament was on Monday hit by r blackout forcing Members of Parliament to suspend sitting.
Deliebrations in the the lawmaking body had to been affected when the lights went off as opposition members taunted ruling Denocratic Progressive Party (DPP).
“This is indeed DPP,” shouted some MPs in the three minutes of the outage.
Some of the MPs described the incident as “embarrassing”.
Parliament’s chief public realtions officider Leonard Mengezi said they have geneset but “they are not automatic.”
Mengezi said power-back up at parliament has a technical fault that requires people to manually to switch it on or off.
The erratic supply of electricity has plagued Malawi with utility provider Escom implementing loadshedding to consumers following reduced generation capacity resulting from low water levels in Lake Malawi and Shire River.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
