DPP regional governor Mchacha attacks Blantyre City Council officials
The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regional governor in the southern region, Charles Mchacha on Wednesday attacked the Blantyre City Council (BCC) officials branding them opposition parties’ agents.
Speaking in Blantyre during the ground breaking ceremony of Blantyre City by-pass road, Mchacha said some BCC officials are deliberately formulating bad by-laws in order to dethrone President Peter Mutharika and his government.
Without mentioning the names, Mchacha said he knows the concerned officials.
Among the policies that Mchacha said are aimed at unseating Mutharika include demolishing houses that are on restricted areas, stopping vendors from doing businesses along the roads and slashing of maize that are planted along the road among others.
He wondered where were the officials when the residents were building or planting maize in the said restricted areas.
“It is inapplicable, mumawona anthu akumanga komanso kubzala koma osawalesa. Anthu mpaka athira feteleza obeleketsa ndipamene mukatchetcha m’mera wawo. That’s too bad,” said Mchacha.
According to him, they want Malawians to think that such policies are from President Mutharika.
The DPP governor assured President Mutharika that they will deal with such officials who he referred as aperezi.
Nyasa Times understand that the policies are old one and that some of them have also been used in previous government.
The residents were also warned to stop planting, building or making businesses in restricted areas before taking the action.
However, DPP think that the decision is denting its image.
Recently, Mchacha told Mutharika that he has a list of names of government officials who are opposition agents and that he name and shame.

I think that Mchacha has got a point here. Hate him or like him but I think that he has a point.
In all countries that are doing things in a modern way , by-laws and regulations are followed by the citizens. Without regulations and by-laws, we will have a chaotic country where every one does things as they personally wish; resulting in slams and ugly looking cities. Mr regional governor for DPP , do not threaten BCC officers who are doing their work according to laid down regulations and by-laws. which were there even during Dr Bandas time.
