PP says regional secretary Chulu adulterous, joins DPP

After rejoining Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), details have emerged that former Regional Secretary Frazer Chulu dumped Peoples Party (PP) after being suspended for committing adultery.

PP Deputy Secretary General George Zulu claimed Chulu was initially suspended after he was caught red-handed flirting with fellow party member Joyce Chiputula at Clepa Entertainment Centre last week.

Zulu said after the incident, Chulu was summoned by the party’s disciplinary committee where he was suspended paving way for further investigations.

However, Chulu took a quick decision to dump the party and rejoin DPP.

“Our party is not regretting and we will not miss his services, in his time he wanted to bring chaos in the party by sleeping with more women which was putting the party’s image in question. As a party we did not condone such kind of behavior,” said Zulu.

He said this was not the first time for Chulu to be summoned by the party’s disciplinary committee due to his behavior of bedding women in the party.

“On several occasions he has been warned to stop such behavior but he was not showing any signs of changing” added Zulu.

Nyasa Times also learnt that Chulu was also accused of demanding cash from primary elections aspirants telling them that he will mobilize support for them a thing which did not go well with party officials.

It is reported that Chulu was once also suspended for the similar reasons when he was in the United Democratic Front (UDF).

Chulu when contacted for his comment said “these issues cannot be discussed in the media”.

When contacted Chiputula confirmed meeting Chulu at Clepa but said the two are not in love.

“It’s true that I met him but it was a small meeting as we were sorting out a simple issue. I was told to collect the invitations cards for a state function so he was the one keeping the cards,” said Chiputula.

Chulu was suspended alongside Chiputula who is the party’s Deputy Youth Organizing Secretary and his mother in-law.

He last week rejoined DPP which he left more than a year ago.

But Chulu said he has dumped PP because it has fewer structures on the ground than DPP, claiming PP is becoming unpopular among the masses

“There is nothing wrong I have done at PP, but I have come back because DPP is stronger than PP as it has more party structures which can take it into government next year,” said Chulu .
