President Joyce Banda arrives in Brussels for European conference

Malawi President Mrs. Joyce Banda arrived Monday morning, 15 October, 2012, at Sheraton Hotel to attend the 2012 European Development Days (EDD) Conference in Brussels, Belgium.

The plane carrying the Malawi leader touched down at Brussels Airport at exactly 10:15 am where she was welcomed by Malawi Ambassador to the European Union Dr. Brave Ndisale in company of Zimbabwe, Namibia and Lesotho Ambassadors to the European Union.

The Conference will take place at the Sheraton Hotel on the Tour and Taxis venue where President Banda is expected to make a speech on the last day of the conference, October 17, 2012.

After attending the conference on Wednesday, the Malawi leader is expected to grace the Malawi Business forum where she will be Guest of Honour. During the Business Forum on Thursday, October 18, 2012, Malawi is expected to market business opportunities to more than 40 different company representatives from across Europe.

Minister of Trade and Industry, John Bande and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Coorporation, Ephraim Chiume welcomed the Malawi leader at Sheraton Hotel.

Also present to welcome President Joyce Banda were Deputy Minister of Finance, Ralph Jooma; EU Ambassador to Malawi, Elexander Buam; Malawi’s PS for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Patrick Kabambe;  Malawi Deputy Ambassador to EU Josephy Chiteyeye among others.
