Prison authorities suspend warder for aiding prisoner get mobile phones into cell
Prison authorities say they have interdicted a warder for assisting a prisoner traffic cell phones into a prison cell.
The prison warder under interdiction has been identified as Emmanuel Chiganda of Zomba Central Prison.
A prisoner was found with two phones in his intestines which he planned to traffic into the prison.

The prisoner later desecrated the phones with the aid of health personnel at Zomba General Hospital on Thursday.
Prison authorities said the prisoner had inserted two mobile phones into his intestines through the anus at Zomba Central Prison.
National Prison spokesperson, Chimwemwe Shawa said the prisoner was treated to other infections at Zomba Central hospital.
“He inserted the phones through the anus and was noticed by some prison warders due to the way he was moving,” said Shawa.
He said after failing to discrete at the prison, the prisoner was taken to hospital.
