The characteristics of a poor nation. Instead of working, people line up for handouts at a shop from either politicians or pastors. The sad thing is most people do not see anything wrong with these stunts. They do not realise it is a stunt that helps pastors or politicians get more ‘supporters’ and therefore more money. They do not realise receiving handouts undermines people’s ability to fend for themselves. I feel sorry for our ‘illiteracy.’

Was it a public stunt by the celebrated men of God? Let them use their celebrity status to partner with govt. or Beam or NGO’s to provide school desks to primary schools in Malawi. Millions of learners in Malawi are getting muscle cramps in classes because they sit literary down on the floor for long hours. And the girl learner struggles hard to stand up when answering questions coz they have to mind popping eyes of male teachers in front of them. Let our public primary school learners be accorded with dignity they deserve.
